No Changes

from Can I Be Excused by Superlative

/

about

No Changes is an honest display of insight into Superlative's mind.
He showcases a more vulnerable side, whilst sticking to his morals.
The song is about acknowledging that when you feel low, you shouldn't let it compromise your beliefs.
The instrumental is very laid back, and down tempo.
The droning bass was used to create the feeling of a heart beating slowly against the loose groove and panned Hi-hats.
It was intended to feel like organised chaos in a melancholy setting.

lyrics

[Chorus x2]
Stuck in my ways and they think I changed no.
Mention my name and they get the same old.
This is the way that I play the game though.
And nuttin will change, cuz I get the same love.

[Verse 1]
Now who the fucks recording me?
Put the cameras down
I'd like a moment to myself
Because it's time to spit my story G
I'm kinda clever don.
Impractical
But never wrong
And if they understand it
Then you notice that there's more to me
I'm over sensitive
Emotional
Competitive
Approachable
Consecutively repping as a roll zug
And overall
I bet they say I'm owed a bit more
When I get to hold the ball
Court is overlooked
When I throw
But I let 'em know the score

It's kinda peak what I'm saying because the message is true
If I ain't rolling on roads and I fit the stereotype
Then I get this weight on my shoulder
I'm thinking what should I do

It's kinda counterproductive
Look back on productions
And chuck a bit of street in the struggle
Some speedy percussion
I'm too lost

But if there's two damn lanes
I'mma quick swerve
This way
Remain

[Chorus x2]
Stuck in my ways and they think I changed no
Mention my name and they get the same old
This is the way that I play the game though
And nuttin will change, cuz I get the same love

[Verse 2]
Discomfort with this torsion
Operation waiting list
They pushed me back to April
Like my bits are not important
Now my finances are falling
44 every fortnight
With a 4, Oh Oh
when the time's right
I be like please lord lessen my stress
And hit the keyboard
Openly venting and slip the E Chord
It's like a TV
Repeat
suttin like a retweet
That's when I'm alerted
With a beep beep
Street fiend
Gotta break the cycle
Watch the dream be
I'm steady racing on that path get that green clean
What?
Ever heard of getting P from these streams
What?
Spotify and Apple, Pree the beats them locked
But still it's never enough
It's like they want to hear me talk bout
how I'm selling those drugs
And if I'm packing a burner
I'm earning got girls in my circle
Then I'm actually deserving
But swerving it cuz I'm just

[Chorus x2]
Stuck in my ways and they think I changed no
Mention my name and they get the same old
This is the way that I play the game though
And nuttin will change, cuz I get the same love

[Outro x4]
Grinding, don't trust the road
I said I'm grinding
Don't trust the road

Superlative Bolton, UK

Coming out of Bolton, Superlative is a fine example of an
artist ahead of his time. If you appreciate the bounce and complexity of modern trap-inspired
beats but never fell out of love with that golden-age hip-hop production style, then you’ve
been missing out on Superlative. His raw, eager flow and relatable bars create an aura of
humility and honesty around his outputs.
